Live Bee Policy

Honey bees are considered livestock and are therefore non-taxable. All honey bee packages, nucleus colonies (nucs), and queen bees must be prepaid in full at the time of purchase.

Due to the nature of live livestock, all live bee sales are final. Cancellations, refunds, and transfers are not available once an order has been placed.

For nucleus colonies, a refundable deposit will be applied to the nuc container. Deposit details and return instructions will be provided at the time of pickup.

Unless special arrangements have been made in advance, all live bee orders are to be picked up at our Burnaby location.

Shipping of Live Bees

When live bees are shipped, BC Bee Supply does not provide guarantees on the condition or survival of any livestock product, including honey bee packages, nucs, queen bees, or mason bees, once they leave our care.

While Canada Post and other carriers make every reasonable effort to handle live shipments properly, delivery conditions are outside of our control. As such, all shipping risks and associated costs are assumed by the purchaser.

Rate of Success

BC Bee Supply has worked closely with Canada Post for several years to deliver beekeeping products, including live bees, across the province. Historically, our delivery success rate has exceeded 98 percent.

Our goal is to support beekeepers throughout British Columbia by providing healthy stock, careful preparation, and clear communication, while recognizing that live animals are subject to variables beyond any one party’s control. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Refund Policy for Live Bees – 2026 Season

Due to the nature of live livestock, there are no refunds available for any live bee purchases during the 2026 beekeeping season. This applies to all honey bee packages, nucleus colonies (nucs), queen bees, mason bees, and any other live bee products, regardless of pickup method or shipping arrangements.

Once live bees leave our care, many factors beyond our control may affect their condition or performance. For this reason, all live bee sales are final, and refunds will not be issued under any circumstances for the 2026 season.

This policy allows us to focus on providing healthy stock, careful preparation, and consistent service to all customers throughout the season. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
